先看题干，我们看到的大致印象是：
那个作家用流畅、有力的散文对一些___________的sentiments所做的表达，是一种把高档东西和低档东西混在一起的奇怪做法，就像一群衣着sloppy的音乐家在演奏一个歌剧。
然后我们就知道空里面应该填和“流畅、有力”意思相反的单词，肯定是贬义词。
这样我们就可以排除patriotic和noble，而tender和lofty代入进去又不能和fluid和vigorous一起表现出一种“把相反的东西混合到一起”的效果，所以我们就可以选出正确选项vile和base。
