首先我们读题，可以得到大致的印象如下：
伦敦的皇家协会把科学尊奉为一种国际性的努力，一直致力于政治的_______。所以，该协会在二十世纪（两次）世界大战之间都拒绝__________来自敌国的成员。
我们可以推知，“拒绝__________来自敌国的成员”这种做法，就等于第一空的“_______”。然后我们把六个选项都分别代入，可以选出正确答案neutrality和dismiss。题目的意思就是说，英国科学院坚持科学无国界，在英国和德国两国交战时，也坚持接纳德国籍的科学家当英国科学院的（外籍）院士。
